Tromsø sits a long way north, and the building shows it. The wind off the sea is constant, the temperatures swing widely, and the sun disappears for months in autumn. Yet — or perhaps therefore — the best materials are the ones chosen here.
A demanding climate, a demanding standard
The building was to be built for universal design from cellar to top floor. That meant wider passages, lower thresholds, and bespoke frames that took on a few extra metres of opening without losing the seal.

Bespoke frames built for universal design
We built 32 bespoke frames for the widest passages alone — every one with its own set of dimensions, all in FSC-certified pine. The work was complete in autumn 2025, and the mayor opened the building with a short word about timber and precision.
