Sustainability
Environment and sustainability
Since 1948 we have built frames from timber that can be traced back to the forest it grew in. It isn't new sustainability — it's the same craft we have always practised.
Circular
Wood offcuts from production heat our factory.
Offcuts from saws and planers go straight into the heating plant. Nothing is wasted — the same cycle we have run since the start.

How it works
From forest to heat
Every step of the process is shaped by one principle: use everything, and use it well.
01
The forest
Our timber comes from FSC-certified forests in Norway and Sweden. Every plank has a trail that goes all the way back to the contractor who felled it.
02
Sorting
When the planks arrive in Voss they are marked and logged. The best timber goes to the front, the rest to edge and frame.
03
The craft
Joinery is classic handwork: mortise and tenon, pressed together with no visible screws. The same technique lasts a hundred years.
04
The energy
Offcuts and shavings go straight into the heating plant. The same biomass warms the hall where they were just cut.
The most important thing about FSC isn't the mark. It's what the mark asks of us every single day.
